her photos are beautifully starkly deceivingly simple.

coats1they are also laden with beautiful color, and make us feel warm and toasty inside.

cheapfireworkscroppedher style is super versatile, from seemingly-but-not-really sterile black & white shots to photos bathed in saturated grainy polaroid-esque color.

her artist’s statement is quite lovely as well. she reminds us, in writing at least (sorta visually, too), of william eggleston, which reminds us of his wonderful (WONDERFUL) show at the whitney (which, apart from crowds of people and a surprising amount of little kids, was my favorite museum-going experience in the past few months), which makes us like this lady even more.

i want to meet everyone and take their portrait. I want to photograph the landfill and the kittens in your closet. I am interested in all facets of image making. I believe in democratic photography in the sense that all things are capable of being the subject of a beautiful image if the artist has the notion to share this vision. I document my surroundings constantly for this reason. I also create scenes from the imagery in my mind to balance the observed with the conceived. As I photograph I am constantly learning to see again.

on an unrelated subject (a subject named barack obama), found this and this on ben smith’s politico blog. our soon-to-be-president was once an anti-war, pro-gay marriage sort of guy.

we are SO PUMPED for tuesday.
